Professional supervision is the partnership between supervisor and supervisee in which together they explore and address the challenges faced in their work, its effects on the supervisee as well as helping to navigate all of the complex relationships involved. While the terms supervisor or supervision often bring to mind images of management and hierarchy, in this context a simplified understanding would be a second pair of eyes. It’s an opportunity for the supervisee to bring their work to another practitioner to explore their work reflectively. The supervisor helps the supervisee to gain greater clarity around the challenges, solutions, and goals in their work.
